To continue our vital work, the Sociedad Protectora de Animales de Roquetas de Mar is dependent on volunteers. We are always in need of individuals who care enough about animals to offer a few hours of their time to help care for the homeless dogs and cats of southern Spain.
Local volunteers
If you live within easy reach of La Mojonera, Almeria, we welcome volunteers to assist in all aspects of running the sanctuary. Our volunteers help with feeding the animals, cleaning, construction, welcoming visitors, administration, delivering pets to their new homes and follow-up visits to these homes. Our organisation is multi-national, therefore it is by no means essential to be able to speak Spanish (although, a little always helps!). The sanctuary is just 1km off the motorway which links the Costa del Sol with the north east coast of Spain, therefore, we are very easy to reach! Southern Spain is probably one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world. The area has a very cosmopolitan resident population. The aim of this website is to reach all nationalities who live in the region or visit this beautiful part of the world as tourists. Currently we are working on providing these pages in Spanish, German, English and Dutch, however, our intention is to include additional language versions to cover most of the common international languages. To accomplish this, we need the talents of translators who can translate our English language pages into their specific language.
